Chicago's inaugural Walk for Values USA will take place on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Richard J Daley Center between 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.

Chicago is the largest city in Illinois, Midwest and the third most populous city in the United States with over 2.8 million people living within the city limits.

12.30 -1:30 pm Check-in & Walk-in Registrations

1.30 - 1.45 pm Opening Ceremony (Speaker...External         Dignitary)

1.45 - 2.00 pm Walk Assembly/ Line Up

2.00 pm Walk Begins (Grand Marshall-Internal Dignitary)

3:00 pm Walk Concludes

3.00 - 3:45 pm Musical Program, Refreshments & Closing Ceremony ( Speaker....External Dignitary)

Location

The Richard J. Daley Center was originally known as the Chicago Civic Center. Located in the heart of the Chicago Loop, the Daley Center was Chicago's first major public building to be constructed in a modern rather than a classical architectural style.

PARKING AT CTA Station - You could park your cars all day for a rate of $5 - $10 per day for weekends in any of the following locations.

Rosemont Station -   5801 N River Road, Rosemont
Cumberland Station -   5800 N. Cumberland Avenue, Chicago
Forest Park Station - 711 S. Desplaines Avenue, Forest Park


METRA (Visit the Metra website)
Metra Union station, Ogilvie Transportation Center and Van Buren Street Station are all within walking distance of Richard J Daley Center.

 From Metra Union station, Ogilvie Transportation Center:  Exit towards Madison Street and 

    Head east on W Madison St toward N Canal St              

    Turn left at N Lower Wacker Dr/N Wacker Dr                   

    Turn right at W Washington St 

    Richard Daley Center is at 50 W Washington ( Washington and Dearborn)


DRIVE

From the Eisenhower (I-290):
Exit at I-90/94 North (to
Wisconsin). Take 90/94 to the Washington Street exit. Turn right. Take Washington to Clark. The Daley Center is located between Randolph and Washington, Dearborn and Clark.

From
Lake Shore Drive:
Exit Randolph Street. Take Randolph west about one-half mile. The Daley Center is located between Randolph and Washington, Dearborn and Clark.

From the Stevenson (I-55):
Exit at I-90/94 North (to
Wisconsin). Take 90/94 to the Washington Street exit. Turn right onto Washington St. Take Washington to Clark. The Daley Center is located between Randolph and Washington, Dearborn and Clark.

From the Kennedy (I-90/94) Southbound:
Exit at
Washington Street. Turn left onto Washington. Take Washington to Clark. The Daley Center is located between Randolph and Washington, Dearborn and Clark.

From the Kennedy (I-90/94) Northbound:
Exit at
Washington Street. Turn right onto Washington Street. Take Washington St. to Clark. The Daley Center is located between Randolph and Washington, Dearborn and Clark. 


PARKING 

When you exit Washington St from I-90 (Exit 51c), Please park at the below location which is located at the Intersection of Washington and Franklin (on your right).  Parking Rate is $8 for the weekends

Event Guidelines

Please be aware of some guidelines for your visit to the Event.

You are welcome:

  1. Please do not leave the Lines during the walk unless it is an Emergency
  2. In case you are not well and would like to leave the walk, Please contact your Line Leader who are wearing Orange Scarf’s and you will be
  3. provided with further directions
  4. We have a Medical Team with us to take care of Emergencies ( Medical Team are wearing Blue Scarf’s)
  5. Children should be with their Parents all the times and Parents are responsible for their Children.
  6. We request everyone to maintain Silence during the Walk as this Walk is intended to Promote Human Values
  7. This Walk Is NOT A PARADE OR A RALLY OR A DEMONSTRATION. Hence Please Maintain Silence. No Singing or Talking is allowed during
  8. the walk.
  9. Turn off your cell phones to Vibrate Mode and we do not encourage use of Cell Phones during the walk unless it is an Emergency
  10. For People Holding the Banners, please make sure that in case you are tired during the walk, let your Line/Group Leaders Know
  11. Rest Rooms are available in the 37th Block Shopping Mall which is right across the Street from Daley Center.
  12. We will begin the Program with National Anthem, Speeches by our Guests, Ribbon Cutting before the walk begins. After the Walk, we
  13. will have a Musical Program along with Refreshments
  14. Please Listen to your Line Leaders for all instructions during the walk and when Crossing Intersections
  15. Please hold on to Empty Water Bottles and dispose them off only at the Trash Containers in Daley Center
  16. Please maintain a Steady Pace along with your Group during the walk. Please Refrain From Running or Seating Down during the Walk
  17. For Participants in the Walk who are Holding Banners & Posters, Please make sure that Banners and Posters are Held as per the
  18. Instructions given by your Line Leaders

   o        For Men : Business Casual Attire is Recommended

o        For Women : Modest Clothing is Recommended
