Over 550 kindred spirits with one hope and dream – to make a difference - joined Walk for Values USA - Dallas on May 9, 2009 in Plano, Texas.  Despite weather predictions of rain and thunderstorms, they never waivered from their desire to saturate their community with the messages of love, peace, right-conduct, nonviolence and truth.

Leading the way was no other than the Mayor of the City of Plano, Pat Evans, who even read aloud the proclamation declaring May 9, 2009 as the Walk for Values Day.  Chief guests also included Reverend Patrick Price, Pastor of the Community Unitarian Universalist Church, Plano, and AnilKumar Kamaraju, Professor of BioSciences, Sri Sathya Sai University, Puttaparthy, India.

Sally Schaefer did an excellent job as the Emcee, and kept the schedule on track.  The opening ceremony featured delightful songs on human values sung by children, and a heartfelt rendition of the National Anthem.  The Walk proceeded out of Haggard Park through the streets of downtown Plano for approximately one hour and forty-five minutes, and ended back in the Park.

The event came to a close with a youth music program, value-based games, face painting and even light snacks for all to enjoy.
